After the success of 2008 with around 10 000 people attending on Hobart's Waterfront the Tasmanian Beerfest is back!

This year the Tasmanian Beerfest will be bigger and better with a bigger location on Hobart's Waterfront at the better known "Taste Shed" on Princes Wharf.

2009 will see the introduction of a larger range of International beers

Come and relax on comfortable seating and enjoy a premium beer and food matched experience with guest speakers such as Chuck Hahn - Lion Nathan Michael Brigss- Iron House Brewery, Ashley Huntington- 2 Meter Tall, Owen Johnson- Moo Brew, Lindsay Bourke- Taveners Boutique Brewery and more...

The Tasmanian Beerfest mission is to educate the beer-loving public about the joys of craft beer; as well as promote pride in supporting Tasmanian beverage and food producers.

The day will provide you with the opportunity to taste a range of beers from your old favourites and to challenge yourself in trying news ones. Where else will you have someone crack open a beer for you just so you can have a taste?

Also at The Tasmanian Beerfest you will have the opportunity to try locally produced ciders, ginger beer and wine.

Try some of the best produce in Tasmania with award winning German style sausages, Wood fired Pizza, Gourmet rostis and Tasmanian fish and chips.

Be educated on the brewing process, home brewing and beer and food matching with guest speakers.

Meet the brewers that make the beer you love. Learn all about beer and hop production in Tasmania.

New Food & Wine Finds South Western Australia: Top Place Not Only in Food and Wine
Posted by deb on Thursday, November 05 @ 23:09:02 EST (274 reads)

Lonely Planet is showcasing Australia’s South West to the world in its latest book, Best in Travel 2010.

In the book, Lonely Planet has declared the region as one of the top ten regions in the world to visit in 2010. It is also the only Australian region on the list.

Australia’s South West Chief Executive Officer Sascha Papalia, said she was thrilled the region has now been internationally recognised.

“The word is out – our stunning region is no longer a best kept secret for locals,” she said.

“It’s excellent that Lonely Planet has recognised the whole of the South West region as significant – from Harvey to Albany, and from Bunbury to Margaret River.

“As we know, the region is a perfect blend of natural experiences such as beautiful beaches and tall timber forests combined with world class food, wine and boutique accommodation.”

Lonely Planet describes the region as offering “….variety in spades”, where “… the great outdoors rules, with wine, water, woodlands and walks defining the region.

New Food & Wine Finds Beechwood Brewery Ocktoberfest 2009
Posted by deb on Sunday, September 20 @ 18:09:39 EST (299 reads)

OKTOBERFEST 2009
Sample world class Beechworth beers at this years Oktoberfest. Beechworth craft-brewery Bridge Road Brewers is hosting its third annual Oktoberfest, from its new venue in an old coach house. The event is loosley based around the original Oktoberfest held in Munich in late September each year. Punters are encouraged to get out the Lederhosen or Dirndle (traditional bavarian dress) and enjoy the festivities. This family day will include childrens activities, and fun for all with a traditional ohmpah band belting out some great drinking tunes.

Bridge Road Brewers, established by Ben Kraus and his Austrian partner Maria Frischmann has been brewing its beers for a little over 2 years and has come a long way from its origins in the family garage where the business spent its first year. Its relocation to an old coach house in Beechworths centre has proven a success. The brewery has been able to expand its range of beers, currently nine, and increase its production capacity to almost double.

The new venue has also allowed the addition of a kitchen to the brewery, where, apart from the giant pretzels, pizzas are the pick of the lunch time menu. A recent trip to Europe for Ben and Maria, including some time in Italy, helped them develop the pizza menu which is based on traditional Italian style pizza. Bens recommends trying the apple and blue cheese pizza matched with the Bavarian Wheat Ale. Marias experience in hospitality also includes working at Munichs Oktoberfest as a beer maid.

The Beechworth Oktoberfest will be held at Bridge Road Brewers, off Ford St, behind Tanswells Hotel, rear access from High st. It will be held between 11am and 6pm on Sat 10th and Sun 11th of October.

For further inquiries please contact Ben or Maria on 0357282703, or drop into Bridge Road Brewers.
