New Diner Great Burger Barney’s of Bookham
Posted by deb on Monday, December 21 @ 11:51:59 EST (443 reads)
A new cafe/diner has opened at Bookham (between Yass and Gundagai) on the Hume Highway NSW.
Barney’s of Bookham serves modern Oz cuisine including salads, sandwiches, gourmet pies and homemade cakes and coffee, all made from locally sourced produce where available. The new ‘Barney Burger’ has been a particular hit with visitors. Barney’s offers locals and passers by a fun, relaxed venue and a break from the road with great food and music thanks to a retro seventies jukebox.
It is also capitalising on the growing regional tourism market with places of interest nearby such as the popular Murrumbateman wineries, Crisp’s Gallery at Bowning, Corkhills Art of Living, Binalong and the Long Track Pantry and Jugiong Wine Cellar.
Barney’s is named after the owner Marguerite’s dearly departed dog. He is well remembered by colourful Andy Warhol-style prints created by Sydney textile designer Jillian Clarke that adorn the cafe.

Long Track Pantry Great Place to Eat Drink and Rest
Posted by deb on Wednesday, April 30 @ 10:50:58 EST (900 reads)
Wonderful scenery that is quintessentially Australian is one of the treats in store for those who drive down the Hume Highway to Victoria, or perhaps up, from Melbourne to Sydney. View the layers of towering blue mountains that are part of the Great Dividing Range, and that fold out into the distance, which can be capped with glistening white snow in winter. And, if you stop in the picturesque country town of Jugiong, 350km south of Sydney, you can enjoy excellent home-baked food and great tea and coffee at Long Track Pantry (open every day except Tuesday, 10am to 4pm). Ring them to book (02) 6945 4144.

Butcher Shop Now Cafe in Mudgee NSW
Posted by deb on Friday, January 05 @ 15:59:54 EST (1259 reads)
The regional town of Mudgee NSW has been through many changes over the past decades and the buildings have adapted to these trends. The old Butcher Shop in Church Street is now a cafe where tourists and locals will watch life go past at a leisurely pace. Breakfast is the time of day to read a paper, meet friends or just stop awhile to enjoy life in the slow lane. So next time you want a pleasant start to the day try this Mudgee cafe. Some say the Butcher Shop is the place of the area or call it "our slice of Sydney". There's good food, coffee roasted on-site. Even a reasonable corkage charge if you would like a later meal with a bottle that you have discovered on your vineyard meanderings.
