October 2010 is Crave Sydney
Posted by deb on Sunday, August 15 @ 04:13:01 EST (87 reads)
The Crave Sydney International Food Festival, presented by Citibank, is a month-long feast of fabulous food events.
We launch with a bang on October 1 - with the culinary genius behind the World's Best Restaurant, Rene Redzepi of Noma, in Copenhagen. He will be appearing exclusively at Sydney Opera House for one spectacular evening, to present his inspirational food philosophy in person.
Rene's visit coincides with the Australian release of his first major book, Noma: Time and Place in Nordic Cuisine, published by Phaidon Press. So, in partnership with Phaidon, we've come up with an unbeatable book-and-ticket package for this very, very special event. Click here to get your tickets now.
Our Barbecue Madness launch weekend (October 2) will set Sydney sizzling and of course there's the buzzy hawker-style Night Noodle Markets in Hyde Park (October 11 - 22).
For a truly global perspective, the don't-miss World Chef Showcase at Star City (October 8 - 10) is all about the big names and the big trends.
The Showcase themes reflect the culinary zeitgeist: an increasing concern about where our produce comes from and how it is grown; the fascinating flavours of the Middle East and Turkey; and of course, the latest in kitchen wizardry from the avant-garde chef set. There will be Hats Off dinners, Let's Do Lunch, *****tail of the Month, classes, tours, tastings and street events galore - Sydney's biggest food month ever.
The full Crave Sydney International Food Festival program will appear on line and in The Sydney Morning Herald in September. See you in October! Joanna Savill Festival Director http://www.siff.com.au/

Mildura Jazz Food and Wine Festival 29 OCTOBER to 1 NOVEMBER 2010
Featuring:
The Mike Stewart Big Band featuring Luke Thompson Pugsley Buzzard Pippa Wilson Swingtet Gail Kingston and Hot Foot Jazz Maryborough Traditional Jazz Ensemble Mr Jazz Hot Licks Trio And much more…
The Mildura Jazz, Food and Wine Festival is a well established event that has attracted many locals and visitors to the Mildura district over the past thirty years. The Festival takes place as an annual Spring-time event, presenting four days of round the clock jazz entertainment in popular clubs, bars and cafes, restaurants, churches, as well as street side and riverside venues – with feature events utilising unique Murray River settings and all events showcasing regional food and wine.
2009 marked the 30th Anniversary of the Festival and the milestone event enjoyed a huge increase in attendance on recent years.
A highlight of the Festival was a special performance by the winner of the 2009 ARAIA for best jazz composition. Joe Chindamo. Joe performed on Friday 30 October at the Mildura Arts Centre where he presented an original work inspired by the Art Centres treasured painting the Bathing Nude Girl by Edgar Degas. To celebrate the 30th Anniversary the Festival held an inaugural free street party on Saturday 31 October. Sponsored by Prime TV this free event will provided non stop jazz entertainment on two stages in the Mildura City Heart from 5pm to 10.30pm. This was a first for the Festival and with Bands such as E-Type Jazz, Gail Kingston and Hot Food Jazz, The Maryborough Traditional Jazz ensemble and Hot B Hines (to name just a few), combined with alfresco dining, this event provided a fitting celebration for one of the longest running Jazz festivals in Australia.
Join us again in 2010 for another jam packed 4 days of Jazz on the river, Jazz at the wineries and Jazz on the Streets. Mildura Jazz Food and Wine Festival
