Foodies go to sea
Orion is known as one of the foremost luxury expedition cruise ships in the world; the South Australian coastline enjoys a similar reputation for its food, wine and scenery. Now, for the first time, the Orion is cruising the South Australian coast with a view to sampling the state's best food and wine while drinking in the views of the coastline.
The inaugural Southern Australia Culinary Delights Voyage, a seven-night cruise departing Melbourne on November 16, will explore the food and wine of the Limestone Coast, Kangaroo Island and the Eyre and Fleurieu peninsulas.
Along the way there will be an expedition to Kangaroo Island to explore the island's burgeoning food culture and visits to the wineries of the Limestone Coast, the area responsible for more than 20 per cent of Australia's premium wines.
On board the Orion, the feasting will continue as the dinner menus are designed by Serge Dansereau from Sydney's Bathers Pavilion.
Fares start from $5200 a person, including meals and selected activities ashore.
