Free entry is one of the new features of the Kangaroo Island Gourmet Gallop Food and Wine Festival at the racecourse on Saturday, January 23. The Gourmet Gallop is the official start of the Kangaroo Island racing season.
“This is truly a Food and Wine Festival par excellence,” Mr Williams said.
“Each year, more and more people come to the Island to enjoy the fun of the races and the fruits of the Island, and the event is known throughout Australia, and overseas, as a place to go for good food and wine. The Gourmet Gallop and Food and Wine Festival will highlight this. Many travel long distances just to be there and simply relish the day,” he said.
The new Food Hall, completed only last year with paving and glass doors overlooking the track, is where all the gourmet food will be, and offers undercover table seating, so patrons can enjoy watching the races in comfort.
“The Gourmet Gallop Food and Wine Festival presents the perfect excuse for everyone to head over to Kangaroo Island for the weekend, and get a taste of what it offers. Spend a day at the races, and then stay a few days visiting the other attractions that the Island is famous for,” Mr Williams said.
